Bike & Hike – Apulia Bike Tours is committed to minimizing its environmental impact by adopting sustainable practices and inspiring others to make responsible choices. We are dedicated to continuously improving our sustainability policies, regularly monitoring and evaluating results with dedicated staff and resources to achieve our environmental and social goals.

We prioritize activities that benefit local communities, respect animal welfare, and protect the environment.
We hire local guides, assistants, and staff, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions.
We promote responsible purchasing of local products, support traditional arts and culture, and encourage our guests to make informed choices while avoiding illegal or prohibited souvenirs.
We work closely with local farms, producers, hotels, restaurants, and operators offering excursions or tastings, ensuring that all collaborations support the local economy, respect cultural traditions, and contribute to the sustainable development of tourism in the area.
As part of our environmental commitment, we actively support the reforestation of olive trees in Salento by collaborating with Olivami, helping to restore the region’s cultural and agricultural heritage.
We respect and advocate for human rights, including children’s rights, women’s rights, labor rights, and land rights. To further reduce our environmental impact, we limit the use of paper documents, favoring digital materials and apps.
We select guides and tour leaders with deep local knowledge and a strong focus on sustainability, and we encourage the use of eco-friendly transportation for both staff and guests, providing travel experiences that respect the environment, local communities, and cultural traditions.

CERTIFICATION
We have been a member of Travelife since 2023. Travelife is a certification programme for tour operators and travel agents based on Sustainable Tourism international standards and fair business practices.
Travelife is a three-stage certification program for tour operators and travel agents: (1) Travelife Engaged; (2) Travelife Partner and (3) Travelife Certified.
Bike & Hike is currently working towards achieving the Travelife Partner certification, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
