From the Adriatic Sea to the Itria Valley

 Self-guided bike tour - 8 Days/ 7 Nights
This self-guided bike tour offers you  a fantastic opportunity to explore the region at your own pace and immerse yourself in its natural beauty, historical sites, and local culture. Monopoli will amaze you with its historic center, its beautiful beaches, and the picturesque harbor. Along the way you will meet the medieval village of Conversano which will fascinate you with its Norman towers and palaces, but first make a stop in the bluest city of Puglia: Polignano a Mare. The city that will make you sing "volare oh oh", it is right there that the singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno was born. The tour continues to Alberobello, a Unesco site since 1996, but before reaching it you can admire a hidden wonder: the caves of Castellana. Reservation is required! And from there you will enter the heart of the Valle d'Itria, discovering fascinating villages such as Locorotondo, a village of circular beauty,  and then you will visit the noble town of Martina Franca. You can admire Ostuni, the white city with a tour loop. Before ending the tour, stop at the Archaeological Park of Egnazia, where it is still possible to admire a small stretch of the Via Appia! And then headed to Monopoli.

Itinerary

Day 1. ARRIVAL IN monopoli
Individual arrival in MONOPOLI, a town that is well worth visiting for its narrow streets flowing around its delightful port and offers some truly outstanding seafood restaurants, as well as a beautiful cathedral. Overnight stay in Monopoli.

Day 2. MONOPOLI - CONVERSANO 40 km / +535m
Bike delivery and briefing of the route. A charming route takes you along the stunning coastline from Monopoli before heading inland to CONVERSANO. Have a chance to visit the small, but vibrant town of Polignano a Mare, a shining gem on the coast of the Valle d’Itria, perched atop a 20 metre-high limestone cliff above the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic. Then you’ll reach the picturesque village of San Vito, with its multi-coloured boats moored up in the tiny port, before finally getting to the beautiful little town of Conversano. Overnight stay in Conversano.

Then you'll pass by Putignano and Noci. Finally you'll reach your destination: ALBEROBELLO.

Day 4. extra day in alberobello
Spend the day visiting Alberobello, universally-known as the capital of the Trulli, distictive, small, dry-stone buildings with a conical roof (Alberobello’s striking expanse of trulli was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996), and wandering through narrow streets, kitsch souvenir shops and tasting local delicacies. Or maybe visit the Museo del Territorio to discover the history of this unique, charming city. Alternatively, a circular cycle route takes you deep into the Itria Valley to visit stunning Locorotondo, with wonderful panoramic views across the Itria Valley, and to Martina Franca, a must-see town given its marvellously intact historic centre, beautiful Baroque architecture, and stunning palazzi.

Today you could just relax by the hotel's pool, or cycle to the nearby beach.
